On September 29, 1992, the First World Kurultai of Kazakhs was held in Almaty, bringing together more than 800 representatives from 33 countries. During this historic forum, the World Association of Kazakhs was established. The Kurultai became an important step in strengthening national unity and ties with the Kazakh diaspora abroad.
