Tamshy
At the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the United Nations declared 2026 the International Year of Volunteers. Today, Kazakhstan is home to approximately 300,000 volunteers, with environmental and eco-volunteers among the most active members of this movement. In this context, the Television and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan has dedicated a documentary film to the stories of citizens who actively volunteer and are deeply committed to addressing the environmental challenges facing the Caspian Sea. The documentary “TAMSHY”, produced by the Presidential Television and Radio Complex, highlights the shrinking of the Caspian Sea, the preservation of its biodiversity, and efforts to protect the Caspian seal, an endemic species of the region. The film follows the lives of volunteers who take concrete action to safeguard the sea’s unique ecosystem and help prevent the loss of its natural heritage.
