Reconstruction of Astana's protective dam and counter-regulator with an emergency spillway is ongoing. The project aims to enhance the capital's flood protection and establish a modern floodwater management system. As part of the project, the existing protective dam will be reinforced, an additional 4.2-kilometre section will be constructed, a 23.1-kilometre emergency spillway will be built, and modern monitoring and control systems will be installed.
