Residents of the metropolis traditionally celebrate City Day on the third Sunday of September. Across different parts of Almaty, festive events are taking place — concerts, exhibitions, flash mobs, festivals, and more. The celebrations began with a concert on Astana Square, where the city’s mayor, Darkhan Satybaldy, addressed Almaty residents and guests of the metropolis with a congratulatory speech.
