Olzhas Abayuly Bektenov was born on December 13, 1980, in Almaty. He has been serving as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan since February 6, 2024. He graduated with honors from the Kazakh State Law Academy with a degree in jurisprudence.

Previous positions held:

• 2002–2005: Chief Specialist at the Department of Justice of Almaty city

• 2005–2006: Expert, then Chief Expert of the Legal Department of the Office of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan

• 2006–2009: Served in the Administration of the President of Kazakhstan

• 2009–2012: Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Registration Services and Legal Assistance of the Ministry of Justice

• 2012–2014: Head of Department at the central office of the Agency for Combating Economic and Corruption Crimes (Financial Police)

• 2015: Head of Staff of the Akim (Mayor) of Astana, Head of the Secretariat of the Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration

• 2016–2017: Head of the Department of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau for Astana city

• 2017–2018: Deputy Akim of Akmola region for economic affairs

• 2018–2019: Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Civil Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption

• 2019–2022: First Deputy Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency

• 2022–2023: Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Kazakhstan
