A free National Handicrafts School project for children and young people has been launched in Astana. Over the next three weeks, master artisans selected from across Kazakhstan will teach participants the techniques and traditions of national handicrafts. More than 450 applications were submitted for the program, with 208 children and young people ultimately selected to participate. Organized by the Creative Industries Development Foundation, the project aims to preserve Kazakhstan’s traditional handicrafts, promote them among the younger generation, and ensure the continuity of artisanal knowledge and skills. The training program covers ten areas of traditional craftsmanship, including jewelry making, felt making, artistic weaving, reed weaving, pottery, ceramics, bone carving, leatherworking, and woodworking.
