Kazinform "Kazaqparat" is a Kazakhstan-based international news agency, one of the largest media outlets in Kazakhstan. Its headquarters is located in Astana. The agency primarily focuses on national and Eurasian news.
Kazinform is a member of the International News Agencies Association, which unites information organizations from Asian and Pacific countries; a participant in the Association of National News Agencies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS); a member of the Information Agencies Organization of Turkic-speaking countries, and also a member of the international organization TURKSOY, which focuses on the joint development of culture and arts.
Kazinform is a partner of major news agencies such as ITAR-TASS, RIA Novosti, KABAR, BelTA, UkrInform, and others.
On August 13, 1920, the first Kazakh news agency was established, called the Orenburg-Torgai branch of ROSTA (Russian Telegraph Agency).
In 1925, it was renamed KazROSTA.
In 1937, it was transferred to the control of the Council of People's Commissars of the Kazakh SSR under the name Kazakh Telegraph Agency (QazTAG).
In 1991, the Information Agency under the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR was transformed into the State Information Agency of Kazakhstan (QazTAG).
On September 10, 1997, by decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 3629, the QazTAG agency was liquidated, and in its place, the Republican State Enterprise "Kazakh Information Agency (KazAAG)" was established.
In 2002, based on KazAAG, the joint-stock company "Kazakh Information Agency (Kazakhparat)" National Company was organized.
In 2008, the joint-stock company "Kazakh Information Agency" National Company" was included in the structure of the joint-stock company "Arna Media" National Information Holding" in accordance with the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan's decree No. 668 of July 3, 2008.
In 2010, according to the decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 378 of May 5, 2010, the joint-stock company "Arna Media" National Information Holding" was liquidated, and the companies within its structure, including "Kazinform," were transferred to the Ministry of Communications and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2011, according to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan's decree No. 887 of August 1, 2011, the joint-stock company "Kazakh Information Agency" National Company" was liquidated and merged with the joint-stock company "Kazakhstan" Republican Television and Radio Corporation."
On October 16, 2013, based on a decision by the board of directors of the joint-stock company "Kazakhstan" Republican Television and Radio Corporation," the limited liability company "Kazinform" International News Agency was registered.
On January 6, 2014, the limited liability company "Kazinform" International News Agency" began its operations.
In 2016, the limited liability company "Kazinform" International News Agency" exited the structure of the "Kazakhstan" Republican Television and Radio Corporation" and transitioned into state ownership.
In 2019, according to the decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 631 of August 27, 2019, "On Certain Issues of State Property," the limited liability company "Kazinform" International News Agency" was transformed into a joint-stock company "Kazinform" International News Agency," which included the joint-stock company "Kazcontent."
In 2022, the "Kazinform" International News Agency" joined the commercial joint-stock company "Television and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan."
In 2023, the commercial joint-stock company "Television and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was transformed into a republican state enterprise with the right of economic management.
