Serik Mataniyazov is a prominent sculptor from Atyrau, Kazakhstan, known for his contributions to the cultural and historical heritage of his homeland. In the late 20th century, he created several monuments dedicated to notable Kazakh figures. One of his significant works is the sculpture of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Kairgali Smagulov. Originally installed in 1995, the monument was later relocated to a boulevard named after Smagulov in Atyrau. Mataniyazov’s art continues to serve as a visual tribute to local history and identity.
