The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the central executive body responsible for implementing state policy in the field of defense and for managing the Armed Forces of the country.

Main tasks:

- Implementation of state policy in the field of defense; 

- Military-political and military-economic management of the Armed Forces; 

- Development of military doctrine and defense plans; 

- Ensuring the armed protection of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Kazakhstan; 

- Guarding and protecting state and military facilities; 

- Protection of airspace; 

- Implementation of international military and military-economic cooperation.
