Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly (1818–1889) was a legendary Kazakh composer and master of the dombra, considered a founder of traditional Kazakh instrumental music known as kui. His famous works such as “Saryarka,” “Adai,” “Kishen Ashkan,” and “Balbyrauyn” reflect the spirit of freedom, resistance, and national pride. Kurmangazy remains a powerful symbol of Kazakh musical heritage.
