Iran - a country in Western Asia with its capital in Tehran.  To the west, it borders Iraq; to the northwest, it borders Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey; to the north, it borders Turkmenistan; and to the east, it borders Afghanistan and Pakistan. To the north, Iran is washed by the Caspian Sea, and to the south, it is bordered by the Persian and Oman Gulfs of the Indian Ocean.
