Football is one of the team sports. It is one of the most popular sports in the world. The main goal of the game is to score more goals than the opposing team, using the feet or other body parts (except the hands). The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has approved 17 official rules of the game, which are applied at different levels and for different groups of players (e.g., for teenagers, women, people with disabilities, etc.).
Each team can have a maximum of 11 players (excluding substitutes), one of whom is the goalkeeper. Players, other than the goalkeeper, are not allowed to handle the ball with their hands inside their own penalty area. Players, except the goalkeeper, are divided into defenders, midfielders, and forwards.A match consists of two halves of 45 minutes (each half), with a 15-minute break in between.
The goal of the game is to score a goal in the opponent's net and prevent the opponent from scoring in your own net. The team that scores more goals wins.
If the match ends in a draw at the end of regular time (both teams have scored the same number of goals), extra time (15 minutes for each of the two halves) may be played. If the score is still tied after extra time, penalty shootouts are conducted.
