"Barys" - is a Kazakhstani hockey team from the city of Astana. The team competes in the Chernyshev Division of the Eastern Conference of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). "Barys" serves as the base club for the Kazakhstan national hockey team.

The club was founded on November 26, 1999. From its founding until 2009, "Barys" participated in the Kazakhstan Championship. The team won the national championship twice in 2008 and 2009. In 2004, the team was admitted to the first league of the Russian Championship. Winning the "Ural — West Siberia" zone in 2007 allowed the team to qualify for the top league of the Russian Championship. After one season in the top league, "Barys" was accepted into the Kontinental Hockey League in 2008.
