Azerbaijan - a country located in the eastern part of the South Caucasus, on the coast of the Caspian Sea. It is considered part of the Middle East, and according to some sources, also partly part of Eastern Europe. As of 2024, the estimated population is over 10.18 million people, and the area is 86,600 km², making it the largest country in the Caucasus region in both population and territory. It ranks 88th in the world by population and 112th by territory. 

The capital is Baku. Azerbaijan is a secular state. The official language is Azerbaijani.
