#Alakol

Alakol is a closed lake located in the Abai and Zhetysu regions of Kazakhstan, one of the most remarkable lakes in the country. In addition, this area, covering more than 20,000 hectares, attracts not only those who wish to improve their health but also those who enjoy swimming in the unique lake and fishing.
Alakol is the second largest lake in Zhetysu after Balkhash. It occupies the northeastern part of the Alakol district. The lake is closed, stretching from northwest to southwest. It is located at an absolute height of 247.3 meters above sea level. Including its islands, the lake has an area of 2,696 km², a length of 104 km, a maximum width of 52 km, a shoreline length of 384 km, an average depth of 22.1 meters, and a maximum depth of 54 meters. Its water volume is 58-60 km³. The watershed area is 47,859 km². The largest bay of the lake is Alakol Bay, located in the intermountain basin in the southeastern part of the lake.
